You didn’t get here by accident. So, I’m thinking you already know a lot about me, Carlene, your obesity weight loss coach. I started Raw Food Boot Camp in 2005 after losing 136 lbs in 9 months on a raw food diet.
It’s been almost 12 years now. 12 years of working with women who were not only morbidly obese but who were overweight, had medical issues that prevented them from living the life they wanted. That meant RFBC had to evolve, and we did.
We still have a boot camp mindset, but now the focus isn’t on raw food, it’s on you. Your journey to health and well-being.
Don’t get me wrong. We are still very much about raw and whole food diets for health and well being. But they are our weight loss diets. We still go for fast weight loss. The obese need it to stay motivated. But as far as Carlene is concerned, fast weight loss or even steady weight loss is a perk as you work towards changing your relationship with food. As you come out of the gloom of obesity and step back into the light of self-esteem. No preaching, no psychotherapy. Just straight talk about what it takes to create life long change in how we manage our food and health.

No one wants to diet. Dieting for health and well-being while it sounds like a no-brainer is hard, especially when you know it’s for life. Making that transition from the idea of restrictive diet to this is my life now brings emotional turmoil, rebellion, and lots of angst. You want to live like everyone else, but your health, your body doesn’t allow it.
At RFBC, we spend each day fighting our desires to eat foods we believe is our right. We look around at the thin and healthy and think, it is unfair I have to be restrictive with food and have to do exercise daily and a lot more that 15 minutes. Face it, life isn’t fair.
Food is known to improve health. You know. Hippocrates knew: Let food be thy medicine
Doctors know too, but they don’t bother telling us or pushing us because history has shown them that even the most well intentioned won’t stick to a diet and exercise program that will help them.
That’s where RFBC and Coach Carlene come in. With 12 years of working with women who fight tooth and nail with themselves against making permanent change, we had to accept the fact that a just do it attitude was not enough. We work on clearing out the food addictive tendencies even the slimmest and healthiest of us have. Our society says being a foodie is the cool thing. Put an ism at the end of your eating habit and belong. Looking for the latest diet, super food, pill or even surgery is better than just settling in and working on a life time commitment to healthy eating and daily exercise.
At RFBC we work on us, the inner us. We don’t dig deep into anyone’s past, we instead look at who we are, who we want to be and what it will take to get there. We learn that there is no such thing as an excuse or rationalization to eat foods that are bad for our bodies, there is only a conscious choice. A second or two of taste or health.
